Statement of Philosophy:

The Montessori Learning Center, Inc. is to provide with care a high quality education for young children using the Montessori Method. To take advantage of the child's natural sensitive years (between the ages of two to six year old) when he/she can absorb information from an enriched environment. Our goal is not to fill a child with facts but to cultivate his/her own natural desire to learn. Our basic intent is to teach the pre-school aged child that "Learning Is Fun". To provide a warm, nurturing and well-balanced program of educational development. To develop the child's sense of self-esteem, independence, coordination, concentration, order, and respect for self, others and the environment. The program enhances a child's learning socialization skills, develops good problem solving skills, lessons in grace and courtesy. Learning by "hands-on" activities and developing the five senses is a vital part of the program.

What is Montessori Education?

  • Montessori is a unique educational philosophy and methodology developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, who based her scientific observations of young children's behavior.
  • Montessori believed that the goal of early childhood education should not be to fill a child with facts but rather to cultivate his own natural desire to learn
  • Montessori believed that the most important years for learning are from birth to age six.
  • Through specially developed materials and equipment, the child is allowed to experience the excitement of learning by his own choice

What will Montessori Education do for your child?

  • Develop a "love for learning"
  • Develop self-motivation and self-confidence as an independent learner
  • Foster an abiding curiosity
  • Foster inner security and a sense of order
  • Develop positive habits of initiative and persistence

In summary, the Montessori Method will help your child develop the fundamental habits, attitudes and skills which are essential for a life-time of creative learning

The Montessori Learning Center's Goal:

Our goal is to cultivate within each child a natural desire to learn. Our basic philosophy is to teach the pre-school aged child that "Learning is Fun". Specially designed materials and a well-planned environment in the school inspires each child to experience the excitement of learning by his own choice. The Montessori method incorporates the whole child approach to learning.

Ms. Emily Holland

I was born in California, and raised in Olympia, Washington my whole life until I moved to Huntsville, Alabama 8 years ago. Working with children has always been a passion of mine. I've been working with children for ten years now from nannying, childcare programs, touring groups around the space and rocket center, until I found the Montessori learning center. I quickly fell in love with the teaching method of Montessori. I am currently pursuing my degree in special education in Huntsville, where I previously got my Emt degree. In my free time I enjoy the great outdoors, taking any chance I get to explore with friends and family. When I do get out, I also enjoy photography, which is another passion of mine. I appreciate the Montessori way of teaching, and I plan to continue working in the Montessori environment.

I am delighted to be a part of the MLC family and truly enjoy working with the children. I am very much attracted to the innocent, pure, unconditional love of the children. I share the same principles as the other teachers at MLC which is to provide an environment that facilitates development for all children.
