My daughter attended MLC for almost two years before starting kindergarten. Finding a truly child-oriented preschool was a priority when we moved back to Huntsville, and we found that at MLC. My daughter's individual interests, strengths and needs were consistently met, and she thrived. She starts kindergarten with an enthusiasm for learning and a strong academic foundation.
I am grateful for the learning and growing experience my children have had at the Pansy Street Montessori Learning Center. Brenda Tackett is a living legend in our household, having provided a consistent and positive influence on both children for more than four years.
Our choice of pre-school learning/daycare was a difficult one, and we looked at many organizations prior to choosing Pansy Street. We were particularly looking for a setting that tangibly demonstrated racial and cultural diversity among the students, their families, and the faculty. We were also interested in a safe, secure environment and an environment that provided structure in learning the pre-requisites for school entry. I am pleased to report that we found all we were looking for at Miss Brenda's. In fact, our oldest child had such a good experience there that when it came time for our youngest to start pre-school, we did not look anywhere else.
Brenda does a fine job of selecting and/or training compassionate caregivers/teachers who provide a consistent structure, fairly implemented guidelines for cooperative behavior among the children, as well as a really fun environment.
I valued the intellectual stimulation, the exposure to music and the arts, and the healthy lifestyle teaching my children received.
We have been a part of Miss Brenda's school for the last four and a half years. Although our oldest is now 8, she still asks to go back to Miss Brenda's for a visit.
I recommend Brenda Tackett's Montessori Learning Center without reservation. I would be pleased to discuss our experience in more detail if desired.
My children have been at Montessori Learning Center for 2 years. I visited Ms. Brenda’s school about a year before my children were old enough to attend. I knew from the first meeting that Ms. Brenda was a rare educator that has unique gift to connect to children. Ms. Brenda loves her job and all the children in her class. She is creative, fun and energetic and the children love being around her. She has an amazing ability to connect with her students, allowing her to inspire them and bring out the best in each one. She capitalizes on their strengths, yet helps them to develop a skill set in areas where they may not be as strong.
Her ability to control the classroom is simply amazing. It is impressive to see how she can transform a room full of energetic pre-schoolers into quiet, attentive, and respectful listeners. Ms. Brenda teaches children to clean up after themselves and thus the classroom is orderly and never in disarray. The children in her school love being there and you can feel the positive energy in the classroom from the brightly displayed art projects throughout the school to plants the children care for in the windows.
Ms. Brenda allows each child to explore their individuality within the established context of the Montessori curriculum. Her classroom is full of various creative and challenging areas for the children to explore and discover. It is because of her influence that my children have developed a love of learning and an open and curious mind.
Ms. Brenda instills respect within her classroom- between the children and in her approach with the children. She teaches the children to be assertive and use conflict management strategies when having disagreements between each other. In addition to academics, she teaches them invaluable life skills such as respect for others, empathy, respect and communication.
Ms. Brenda also has a wonder rapport with parents. She greets each parent in the morning by name and sends out regular communication about what’s going on in the classroom and any activities that are coming up. I often get pictures of my children emailed to me or I can see them on the school’s Facebook page.
Lastly, Ms. Brenda has built an incredible staff. Each staff member has a background in child development. My children love their teachers. There are always more than enough teachers to work with children individually to ensure they are growing academically. The teachers are caring and warm and you can see they truly love the children. When I drop my children off in the morning, I feel confident that they are in a safe and nurturing environment.
I feel that Montessori Learning Center is one of the best kept secrets in Huntsville. You simply will not find a better place for your child to attend pre-school. From the high level of academic achievement to the other important life skills that the children learn, I would recommend Montessori Learning Center without hesitation.
To Parents looking for a GREAT preschool:
Montessori Learning Center/Preschool was recommended to us by our previous daycare. I made an appointment to meet the director and tour the school. I knew immediately that it was the right place for my boys. It was obvious that the staff was warm and caring and the preschool was clean, tidy and organized! I love that the children have the opportunity to learn through so many different avenues. They have circle time including the pledge, a discussion about the date and weather, singing songs and listening to the teacher read a book. During free time, the children are encouraged to pick out their own projects from one of the shelves. There are activities that foster growth in all areas such as art, coordination and fine motor skills, reading, problem solving, math, building, etc. The children can work independently or in a group and once the work is completed, they are taught to clean up and put all supplies back on the shelves neatly for the next student. Both of my boys loved going to MLC! My children developed a strong bond with their teachers, especially Ms.Brenda. It was obvious that the staff loves children and REALLY works hard planning fun ways to learn! I work part time. It's hard for me to drop my boys off with someone else while I go to work but it made it so much easier knowing that my boys were truly enjoying themselves. They learned so much from the teachers at MLC not only about art, nutrition, history, math and reading but also about being kind and taking good care of our planet. They even had a yoga class!
I would highly recommend Montessori Learning Center. As a matter of fact, they will see us again when my youngest is old enough to attend!
I can hardly believe graduation day is tomorrow! I can remember starting at The Montessori Learning Center like it was yesterday. I was struggling to find the right place and had made many visits to other schools but when I walked into MLC, I knew it was the one. The one I envisioned many years ago when learning about Maria Montessori in Child Psychology. I loved learning about her and thought to myself if I have a child, I would like him or her to learn in this way. Fast forward 15 years and here we are!
As a parent, you question and analyze every decision you make and when you have absolutely no doubt when you have made the right one, it is a great feeling. That is how I feel about the decision to send Ella to The Montessori Learning Center. Brenda’s commitment to nurturing and educating children is unparalleled. This is evident not only in my daughter’s academic proficiencies but because she is kind, caring and respectful of others. She has the foundation for good nutrition and knows the importance of taking care of Mother Earth. She is a very well- rounded child and I couldn’t ask for more in a preschool environment.
It will be a bittersweet good-bye. We will miss Brenda , her staff and the friends we have made but growing and moving forward is what she has been preparing to do these last 3 years. Thank you for the impact you have made on my daughter, my family and our community.
